Recent changes on ECN Australia and their immediate impact on merchants

Posted by Andrew.Thomas on May 26, 2016 12:33:17 PM

eBay Commerce Network has been the only advertising network that allows merchants to engage consumers on eBay and other websites in a single campaign.

Through the eBay Commerce Network's Merchant Program, merchants can reach new customers at every stage in their shopping journey, from awareness to purchase, by advertising products through highly targeted ad placements across eBay's network of premium publishers, as well as placements on eBay.com.au.

This was the case until April 1st, 2016, when eBay Commerce Network Australia suspended the placements on eBay.com.au.

What has changed?

The impact of the change for Australian campaigns can already be seen, with an approximate 70% drop in click performance across all our merchants.

What’s next for merchants?

While product listing ads stopped being displayed on eBay Australia as of April 1st 2016 (except for eBay sellers) they continue to show on eBay Commerce Network's 3rd party publishers such as content sites, shopping portals, marketplaces and price comparison sites.

In order to promote your products on the eBay Australia platform, eBay encourages you to become an eBay seller.  If you are already an eBay seller, there are new Promotional Tools and Promoted Listings that are recommend to use to help recover the traffic. Luckily, we can help you, so please get in touch to find out more.
